Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer with the SPCA! In just one year, our shelter receives more than 10,000 lost, unwanted and abused pets. By becoming a volunteer, you have the ability to make life brighter for the animals. Volunteers at the SPCA assist in all areas; including direct animal care, customer service assistant/greeter, off-site adoptions, special events and fundraisers. Currently, there is a two hour per week time commitment and a minimum age requirement of 18 years old to volunteer at the adoption center. Volunteer applications can be found at the SPCA located at 5850 Brannen Rd South in Lakeland. You may also print out an application on-line. Once you have submitted your application, it will be reviewed by Alane, our Volunteer Coordinator. If your availability and interests match the open positions, you will be contacted to attend a two-hour general orientation which are held monthly. Additional training may be necessary for some positions. After the orientation, you will need to attend a one-on-one interview with Alane. She will arrange a schedule for you and additional training, if needed.
